Three-time Super Bowl MVP Joe Montana was one of just a few no-show’s at the Super Bowl MVP spotlight that was held before Super Bowl XL. According to this report
in the San Francisco Chronicle, Joe was holding out for $100K. Bad move Joe. You just lost well over $100K in future endorsements if this is true.
Joe Montana maintains that he missed the MVP event due to family obligations. More here.
This didn’t occur to me: Tim Kawakami at Bay Area Sports thinks Joe’s no-show has something to do with Joe’s long standing rivalry with Steve Young. This story seems to be picking up steam as the week goes on. More discussion about Joe over at SFist.
